About Us
Membership
- As an employee of Alfred State College or Alfred University,
you’ve always been welcome to join our credit union. However,
because of changes in the law, all of your family members are
also eligible to join. Call or complete
an application on-line.
How does a Credit Union Operate?
- Our interest rates on auto loans and personal
loans are some of the lowest around, while our savings and
CD rates usually are higher. Let us explain how!
- A credit union is owned by its members. When you save in a
credit union, you’re really buying shares in that credit
union. The shares you own earn you dividends each quarter based
on the performance of the credit union. That performance is based
on low expenses, sound investment policies and a portfolio of
quality loans.
Who manages the credit union?
- A 7 member Board of Directors is elected by the Credit Union
Members. 2-3 Directors are elected each year at the Annual Meeting.
- The Board meets on a monthly basis to review performance, set
rates and transact any necessary business.
- A Manager and a Teller perform the day-to-day operations. They
both report to the board.
